What Should You Do After A Car Accident?

Golf Course Injuries

Sporting events and venues try to limit their liability for injuries by posting warnings everywhere conceivable of the hazards of watching a live sporting event. Baseball stadiums employ nets to prevent pop ups and foul tips from catching individuals unaware in the lower level seats. They post markings denoting the hazards of line drives and home runs. Golf courses, however, are not designed like stadiums. Because of the layout of any particular course, hazards can lurk around every corner.

Golf courses are different than other sporting venues in a variety of ways. For starters, there is not the separation between the field of play and the stuff that surrounds the golf course. In many situations, the residential areas behind a golf course can be in the field of play as the “rough” as opposed to any good part of the course. This means that a person sitting in his or her backyard can be subject to the hazards of golf and its most awful players by doing absolutely nothing.

Another problem is that there are so many areas from which a ball may come. Golf is played over a course of 18 holes. This means that at any one time, there can be 18 balls flying through the air en route to a green. Depending on the layout of the course and the space between the holes, a person can be surrounded by fairways or some other part of multiple holes, exposing him or her to multiple risks at once.

In a case filed in New Jersey, a woman was injured while watching her husband on the 17th fairway by a ball that was hit errantly by a poor golfer on the 16th hole. She was injured and is claiming that the injuries were caused by poor course layout and not enough space between the holes.
