What Should You Do After A Car Accident?

Suits Filed Over 2005 Train Disaster

Posted on October 21st, 2008 No Comments

A number of lawsuits have been filed over a train crash that occurred in Texarkana, AR, on October 15, 2005, just in time for the three-year deadline for lawsuits related to this accident that had been set by the courts. The accident involved a collision in a residential neighborhood between a train traveling from Chicago with another one from Pine Bluff. Plaintiffs named in the multiple lawsuits currently working their way through court involve railroad employees, residents who were injured in the initial explosion or exposed to hazardous smoke afterwards, survivors of those killed in the accident, and first responders who were injured while rescuing victims.

All of the lawsuits target Union Pacific engineer J.L. Gordon and conductor Percy Beverly. The railroad company has already settled several lawsuits related to the accident and is hoping to settle the rest.
