An investigation is occurring right now in Suburban Lake Worth, Florida after a 68 year-old woman was involved in a fatal crash with a police officer.

The 68 year-old woman,  Azita Thompson,  was leaving the home of her daughter after dropping her grandson off at home from school.   As she was leaving, the family inside heard the sound of a crash.  Running outside,  the daughter of Azita Thompson saw the accident and approached the vehicle.  Her mother was inside and seriously injured.  Azita Thompson died from the injuries sustained in the crash.

The crash occurred after a police officer was responding to a burglary in progress.  According to witnesses,  he was driving down the street at high speeds with his lights and sirens on. Azita Thompson and the officer collided head-on in the road at a very high speed.  The officer injured his leg during the accident,  but did not sustain serious injuries.
