What Should You Do After A Car Accident?

Florida Family Seeking Ban on Texting While Driving

Posted on February 13th, 2009 No Comments

A family in Florida is pushing for legislation that would make texting while driving illegal.   This comes after the family lost their daughter in a 2006 traffic accident.  Heather Hurd, 26,  was killed while on her way to help plan a wedding in Orlando.

The accident occurred at a red light.  Hurd was in her blue 2004 Mazda when she was struck from behind by a large truck.  The driver of the large truck stated that he was trying to return a text message from his work when he struck the vehicle from behind.  The truck did not notice that the other vehicles were stopped, and he was so distracted that he slammed into them without touching the brakes.

The family hopes that legislation to prevent texting while driving would prevent further loss of life.
