Troopers Looking for Drivers Involved in Crash

by Administrator 25. February 2009 02:22

Florida Highway Patrol is looking for two individuals who were involved in a crash on Wednesday morning.

The troopers are looking for the driver of a Honda motorcycle and a Mazda car.  The accident ended with the Mazda being dragged under a semi-trailer down the road for several yards.  The accident occurred when the driver of the Honda and Mazda were making their way to the center lane of the highway. During this process the Honda motorcycle rider knew he was going to crash and slid the bike.  The driver of the Mazda then hit the semi and was then dragged.  For unknown reasons, the two drivers of the Honda and Mazda then fled the scene of the accident.  The owner of the semi-trailer was not hurt.

State officials are investigating the accident.

Williston Woman Dead After Crash

by Administrator 25. February 2009 02:07

A woman from Williston is dead following a crash that occurred on Tuesday morning.  The crash happened at the Alachua County Road 241, which is south of Newberry.

The woman was pronounced dead several hours after the accident.  The crash occurred when the woman lost control of her van for unknown reasons.  The van veered on to the shoulder.  After veering on the shoulder, the van crossed both lanes of the highway, struck a tree, and then flipped over.

The woman was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of accident and was ejected from the vehicle.  The lack of a seatbelt likely added to the accident being fatal.

by Administrator 23. February 2009 02:17

On Sunday, an unlicensed teen driver struck his 3 year-old nephew as he was moving a car for his family.  The boy was asked to move the car after the family had attended church service.

In the process of getting the car, the car went over the side-walk striking the 3 year-old boy and hitting a fence.  The young boys injuries are considered life threatening. Authorities are investigating the accident right now and no charges have been filed.  An initial investigation shows that the driver seat might have malfunctioned, causing the driver to be put in a reclined position causing the car to go out of control.
