What Should You Do After A Car Accident?

Florida Slip and Fall Law to Possibly be Revised

Posted on March 2nd, 2009 No Comments

The 'slip and fall' law that allows an individual to go after businesses or retailers who did not take proper safety measures to prevent a fall based injury. This personal injury law had been revised in 2001 to allow individuals to go after a business and it does not require the victim to prove that the business had knowledge of the slippery substance which caused the accident.

Many retailers are arguing that since the law was enacted in 2001,  the cost of doing business has risen dramatically. The Florida legislature will be debating this topic in a new bill that will reverse the 2001 ruling.  A recently introduced bill, House Resolution 495,  will hope to make the change back to the 2001 standard.

Several personal injury lawyers have spoke out against this revision,  stating it puts an unfair burden on the victim in such cases.
