What Should You Do After A Car Accident?

Pedestrian killed while on phone with wife

A 51-year-old Jacksonville pedestrian crossing the street late Sunday was struck and killed by a vehicle at about 11:20 p.m.  The accident occurred as he was walking from Mayport Road to Mazama Road, only a few blocks from his house.  Ronald J. Coleman, who lived on the 2600 block of East Stern Drive was on the crosswalk when the vehicle struck him.  The vehicle had a green light.  Coleman was looking down and talking on his cell phone when he was struck and officials have concluded it was an accident since he was not paying attention to traffic.

The driver told police that the pedestrian was not seen until it was too late.  Coleman's wife confirmed that her husband was on the phone with her at the time.  However, the accident is still being investigated by authorities.

Our deepest condolences go out to the friends and family of Ronald J. Coleman and all of those involved in this tragic accident.
