Sliced apples recalled after Listeria found

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has announced that sliced apples from the Marjon Specialty Foods Inc. in Plant City, Florida have been voluntarily recalled after testing positive for Listeria
monocytogenes.

Listeria
monocytogenes is a food poisonng that can cause serious infections that can be fatal in young children and elderly. Healthy indiviudals may only suffer from symptoms such as fever, headache, diarrhea, and nausea. 

The recalled product includes the two-ounce single serves packages, one case of of 100 two-ounce products with a Use By date of 7-20-2010, Five cases of two-ounce packages with the Use By date of 7-21-2010, and 83 cases of 72-ounce packages with a Use By date of 7-20-2010.
