Two construction workers were seriously injured after the scaffolding they were standing on to remove rust and paint the walls inside of a water tower in Hollywood, Florida collapsed.  The men fell 35 feet or almost four stories.

One of the workers, 43-year old Carlos Bustamante, was able to call his supervisor after the fall and tell him what had happened.  Bustamante suffered from a broken leg in the accident.  A 22-year old worker also fell and suffered from serious spinal cord injury.  Rescuers were able to lift the men 45 feet out of the empty water tower and then lower them 165 feet to the ground.

Bustamante was expected to recover quickly and return to his home in Houston, Texas.  The younger worker's injuries were much more serious.  Rescuers reported that he was in and out of consciousness after the accident.
