Today, former Yankees player Jim Leyritz will appear in the Broward County Circuit Court in Florida to face charges made against him in a DUI car accident that left 30-year old Fredia Veitch dead on December 28, 2007.

The accident occurred the night after Leyritz's 44th birthday and after a night of partying at bars in Fort Lauderdale at around 3 A.M..  Hours after the accident at Broward General Hospital, authorities tested Leyritz's blood alcohol content and found him to have a .14 BAC.  In addition, immediately after the accident police performed and videotaped field sobriety tests with Leyritz.

Even if jurors believe that Veitch was partially at fault for the accident, Leyritz can be convicted of the DUI manslaughter charge.
