A fatal car accident occurred in Osceola, Florida this past weekend when a driver hit a pedestrian and then continued driving until hitting a vehicle shortly after.  The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the accident and what caused the driver to lose control of his vehicle.

The accident occurred on State Road 535 this past Saturday.  Police reports state that 52-year old Richard Lawson was traveling on the road in a 2003 Ford F-150 when he lost control of the vehicle around Calypso Cay Way and swerved into the road’s shoulder.  In the process, Lawson struck a 17-year old pedestrian.  The pedestrian was thrown several yards after being hit and was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

Then, Lawson pulled his car back onto the road and continued driving until he struck a Nissan Altima.  His car was pushed into a nearby ditch after the collision.

Our sympathies are with the victim’s family and friends.
