What Should You Do After A Car Accident?

OSHA fines company for Hollywood scaffolding collapse

Posted on February 23rd, 2011 No Comments

Yesterday, officials from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration announced that they have issued $70,000 in fines against the company that was responsible for a scaffold collapse in Hollywood, Florida.  The accident occurred in October when workers contracted with M Brothers Paintings Inc. were performing maintenance on a city water tower located on Sheridan Street near I-95.

Investigators found that M Brothers Paintings Inc. had committed 15 safety violations before the accident.  Most of the violations had to do with not properly inspecting their scaffolding for defects and not providing sufficient safety equipment to workers.  22-year old Meliso Valderrabano and 43-year old Carlos Bustamante were standing on a scaffold inside the water tower when the sides of the hanging structure collapsed and the men fell to the bottom of the water tower.  Both suffered series injuries in the accident.
