What Should You Do After A Car Accident?

Hospitals see rise in dog bite, animal attack victims

About 4.5 million people suffer injuries from a dog bite or in an animal attack every year in the United States.  Recently, hospitals across the country are finding that they have experienced steep increases in patients being admitted for injures incurred in an animal attack.  In 1993, about 5,100 people were admitted to hospitals for treatment of a dog bite.  In 2008, the number nearly doubled with 9,500 people going to the hospital with a dog bite.

One veterinary behaviorist, Dr. Ilana Reisner, said of dog bites, “We found that most children had been bitten by dogs that had no history of biting.  Most important here, familiar children were bitten most often in the context of nice interactions, such as kissing and hugging with their own dogs or dogs that they knew.”
