Cucumber recall issued for possible salmonella contamination

Posted on April 27th, 2011 No Comments

A Raleigh, North Carolina produce company recently issued a recall on cucumbers for possible salmonella contamination.  L & M Companies distributed the 1,590 bulk containers of the recalled product to retailers in Florida, Texas, Illinois, Tennessee, Indiana, Mississippi, Wyoming, and Nebraska.

The recalled cucumbers were distributed between March 30th and April 7th.  The company issued the recall last Friday after investigators from the U.S. Food & Drug Administration found salmonella on some of the cucumbers at the Four Seasons Produce in Central Florida.  If consumed, salmonella bacteria can cause a variety of digestive and intestinal problems.  Experts recommend those who have bought the recalled product not eat it and dispose of it immediately.
