What Should You Do After A Car Accident?

NHTSA issues $1.5 million fine to Volvo

Posted on July 10th, 2012 No Comments

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has issued a $1.5 million fine to Volvo after it violated a federal recall law. Federal law mandates that car manufacturers have five business days to notify the NHTSA about an impending recall or fines may be issued.

Between 2010-2012, Volvo issued seven different recalls for safety defects that affected 32,000 cars. Defective airbag deployment, stalling engines, and incorrectly tire-pressure labeling are among some of the defects. There were no reports of injuries or accidents.

The Swedish automaker has agreed to pay the fine to avoid going to court. Volvo issued a statement asserting its dedication to consumer safety and quality.
