A 28 year-old Sandalwood High School teacher died earlier this week after fighting for his life for nearly two weeks following a scooter accident in Jacksonville. The Florida Times-Union says he will be remembered as a popular teacher and local baseball star.

The teacher was riding his scooter on Huffman Road on the early evening of August 23 when he lost control of his vehicle. Authorities say he was not wearing a helmet, hit his head on the pavement, and slid approximately 125 feet.

Students, family, and friends say he was passionate about sports and helping his students with their highlight videos. He had a successful career playing for University of North Florida and Englewood High School.
