Hit-and-Run Accidents Rise, Jacksonville Ranks Third in State

by Administrator 23. February 2010 03:19

Despite the fact that Jacksonville has the state's seventh-highest population, numbers released by the Floriday Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles shows the city ranks third in number of reported hit-and-run accidents. Sources say that the numbers have skyrocketed from 349 reported incidents in 2006 to more than 2,000 in 2007/2008. City officials believe that Jackonville's size may contribute to the high number of hit-and-run accidents, but believe that something needs to be done to curb the frequency of such serious accidents.
