Two-year old dies in accidental shooting incident

by Administrator 12. March 2010 01:48

The tragic shooting death of a two-year old Jacksonville boy on Saturday afternoon has been ruled an accident by police, and not the result of a drive-by shooting as the child's mother initially claimed. While the exact details of the case are not yet clear, authorities believe that the child was shot by another child at an adult's birthday party near Palm Street and Merivale on Saturday afternoon. The mother has been charged with filing a false police report now that the details of the case have started to emerge.

Boat Crashes Into Dock, Injures 2

by Administrator 12. February 2010 07:49

A father and son were seriously injured when their small boat crashed into the dock after dark in the last week of January. The 35-year-old father took his 4-year-old son and two other adults on a boat ride, but soon realized it was too dark to be safe. Reports say that he turned his boat around to go back, but had trouble navigating back to the dock, even though he wasn't far from it when he decided to turn around. He struck the dock going approximately 20 miles per hour.

The boat became partially submerged under the dock and the windshield broke. The father and son were transported to the hospital. Injuries were not life-threatening, but doctors say the victims would probably need facial reconstruction surgery.
