Macclenny woman turns herself in to police for fatal crash in September

Posted on February 23rd, 2012 No Comments

Holly King, 22, turned herself in on charges from a car crash in September that killed Baker County youth pastor, Todd Annis.

The crash occurred on September 16 in the westbound lanes of I-10 near Chaffee Road when King sideswiped Annis’ car causing it to spin and overturn.  Annis was ejected from his seat, pinned under the car, and died.

King did not suffer any injuries.  Because drugs and alcohol were not involved, there was a delayed arrest and King was not considered a risk.

Annis’ wife spoke about King stating, “She made that choice to drive that night. She made the choice to drive and to drive recklessly…And in result, my husband lost his life, a community lost their youth pastor and an influential person. And if I could say anything, just be cautious of what you’re doing and the choices that you make.”

Posted on February 8th, 2012 No Comments

On Saturday, a stretch of I-295 became extremely dangerous when two drivers’ windshields were hit with rocks thrown at their cars.

The incident occurred between Commonwealth and Pritchard Roads on I-295 on Saturday night.  Melissa Bujeda of the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office explained how very dangerous and serious a crime this is by stating, “It can cause them to go of the road. It can cause them to crash. It can crash through the window and hit them directly…They think it’s funny or they think they are just breaking a window. And they don’t realize how dangerous it is. And it is a felony.”

Neither driver lost control of their car.  There was $300 damage to each car caused by the rocks. Police are still investigating.
