Central Florida Officer Issued Citation for Crash

by Administrator 6. March 2009 02:33

A central Florida police officer from Altamonte Springs was issued a 6 point citation ticket on Wednesday. The ticket will require a mandatory court appearance and mandate that the officer attend a driving class. The ticket is from an event in which the officer was speeding and crashed into another vehicle that was stopped at a red light.  The crash seriously injured two of the individuals waiting at the red light, and one of those individuals still remains in a coma.

It is unknown why the officer was speeding in the moments before the accident.  Investigating officials were unable to prove that the officer was in an law enforcement situation.  The officer also did not have his sirens or lights on at the time of the accident.
