Jacksonville No-zone Truck Accident Lawyer

No-zone Accidents

The term "no-zone" refers to the blind spots around a large truck or 18-wheeler. A car, bike, or pedestrian in one of these areas will be invisible to the truck's driver. Clearly, it is important to keep these areas in mind when driving near a truck. The no-zone areas are:
  • Front: If a small car is too close to the front of a truck, the driver may look right over them.
  • Side: A car to the side of a truck may or may not be visible in the driver's rear-view mirror. A good rule of thumb is that if you cannot see the driver in the truck's rear-view mirror, he or she cannot see you either.
  • Rear: Anything immediately behind a truck is more or less invisible to the driver. For this reason, extreme caution should be used when driving behind a truck, especially if it is backing up.
  • Right Turn: A truck driver may need to swing to the left in order to safely make a right turn. It is also very dangerous to be between a truck and the curb when the truck is turning.

Determining Responsibility

Because Florida law expects drivers to be aware of and cautious about no-zones, the plaintiff in a Jacksonville truck accident lawsuit may not be eligible for as much compensation as plaintiffs in other kinds of suits.

This does not mean, however, that truck drivers bear no responsibility for injuries sustained by other drivers in a no-zone related accident. If you have been injured in a truck accident, a good attorney will be able to assess your case, offer you advice, and argue for your rights in court.
